It can be pretty devastating when a treasured piece of pottery breaks, so I decided to take those pieces and make them into something else just as beautiful. Featuring a piece of floral patterned vintage pottery at its centre, this glass flower is made of transparent purple and olive green glass, to mirror the painted flowers at its centre. Decorative soldering has been used to complement this one of a kind piece.
Each piece of glass is individually cut, ground to shape, edged in copper foil and then soldered together. This suncatcher is hung on a sturdy chain, and solder has been left a shiny silver colour to pick up the light. This is an original design. Measures approx 19x20cm.
This product contains lead solder - do not ingest and wash hands after handling.
Details
This product is crafted using the 'Tiffany' method of stained glass making, where each piece of the design is individually cut by hand from sheets of beautiful art glass, edged in copper foil and then soldered into place. The process is time consuming and skilled, and gives an elegant and detailed result. Designs are original.
